I love summer, it’s my favorite season, but like all things, it too must come to an eventual end.
Late summer provides those long nights and often allows for haze or low level fog to develop and these situations can turn even boring light and scenes into interesting ones giving the image depth that would not normally exist.
While out in Ajax last week, I could not help but notice the street lights counter balancing each other as a shadow cut through the haze from a tree branch.
Using a Gorilla pod to get my camera right down to the ground for maximum effect, and created a 1/3rd horizon I could maximize focus on the shadow streaming down from above.
This turned an otherwise boring photos into something much cooler.
More recently, after sunrise I was able to capture this baseball diamond washed in low level fog as the first rays of sun beat down.
Normally this is one of those “meh” type things, but again the fog added another dynamic to it and the strong contrast which created a silhouette made it more interesting than usual.
I really wanted to compress the background and squeeze it out, so I used my Canon 70-200 F2.8 IS USM II.
