Here's another driver heading through the flooding.
After the storms, Jen and I headed west towards Denver. We passed the Nexrad site not too far from I-70.
It's amazing how everything is dead flat and then suddenly you crest one tiny little hill, if you can call it that and then presto, the mountains rise out of seemingly nowhere.
Jen suggested we head west into the mountains and I thought it was a good idea too so that's what we did after taking an unintentional tour of downtown Denver.
We have hills in Southern Ontario, and some people refer to the Niagara escarpment as "The Mountain".
Well, that rises around 450 meters, this on the other hand is considered a hill that rises 1.2 kilometers!
Jen and I stopped on "Lookout Mountain" a scenic hill where you can see both the front range and the interior mountains.
It's amazing how you have so many different and diverse climate zones in a small area all thanks to elevation!
I'm scared of height and this cliff edge was not cool, I felt sick just taking this photo!
I had to "tweak" this photo to show the hills and the valley. The sun was just washing out the horizon and the valley was poorly illuminated.
With a little photo magic I've adjusted the brightness levels so it looks a little more like it did to my eyes.
