When we were just 20 miles from the Mexican border we finally stopped with the storm fully in view. At this point in time it was still developing and maturing. It was incredible to watch.

The storm at this point begin to quickly mature. It's rotation became very evident and it took on a classic supercell appearance on radar.

If that's not an impressive looking storm on radar then I don't know what is! It had the classic look, shear pattern and couplet with a hook growing on the end.

We closely watched an inflow region near the storms forward flank when a secondary inflow region developed deeper back in the storm closer to the mesocyclone.

This lowering which would later become a full-fledged wall cloud rapidly developed.

This lowering was just moments away from becoming a wall cloud.

In about 30 seconds a massive plume of moisture was pulled from the storms core and dragged into the main updraft forming this impressive wall cloud with an extended Beavertail leading all the way back towards all the moisture. It's hard to tell from the image but this thing was massive, easily the size of a city.

Now apparent was the storms immensity. You can see the entire wall cloud structure and the main inflow structures of the storm plus all the banding within revealing rapid rotation. At about this time spotters in Mexico were reporting hail to the size of baseballs. This was further backed up by the four-inch hail reports indicated by radar.

Here you can see the radar couplet really begin to tighten up!

The title says it all, this was simply jaw dropping. The only thing more impressive was the sheer size of the entire storm!
