In the community of Victoria Corners in Caledon the ground blizzard was in full swing with snow wafting through the air. The OPP had numerous cars on various side roads stuck with stranded motorists.

Even the more or less urban City of Brampton, highway 410 was nothing but glazed ice and covered with windblown snow. Salt and other substances were quickly rendered useless as temperatures began dipping into the -20's. This poor driver was a victim of an ice patch and hardy guardrail.

Further to the south, Lake Ontario looked like a warm steam bath and the barely above freezing lake waters were battered by -21C and colder air.

Heading back north, roads near Orangeville were slowly being eaten by growing snow drifts.

In the Town of Orangeville, heavy duty snow throwing equipment was put to work to clear sidewalks that were covered by fresh wind blown snow.

Temperatures in Dufferin County we're unbelievably cold, -27C is cold no matter how you look at it, but that's without wind. Throw in some 40km/h winds and your looking at a chill of -43C, up that to 50km/h in exposed areas and your now dealing with -45C, then throw in a gust to 70km/h and suddenly your looking at a -48C windchill. Skin freezes in less than a minute and frost nip occurs in seconds. Leaving a vehicle in these conditions is dangerous!

Here a growing snow drift wafts snow into the air reducing visibility to 0 on this stretch of road.
