As I drove past this scene I literally hammered the brake, reversed up the road and jumped out. This is a perfect postcard photo, it says fall but screams winter and has that whole Christmas feel.

The western edge of the snow squall was perfect, sunlight, contrast and trees. I took a whole series of photos in front of this random driveway.

There was a strong northerly flow outside of the squall. It was certainly warmer outside the squall than within it (which is usually not the case) and plumes of lake effect moisture in the form of super low stratus and cumulus were just barreling inland. Reminded a little of a high-risk t-storm day with low level moisture.

I thought this was neat, a little pocket of sun along this row of trees.

Seeing as I had taken what felt like a hundred photos I decided to head back east. It was already after 1PM. This was just another random cluster of trees, if it were not for the single small tree in the front, I could lie and say this was taken in January.

This red maple was great.

What I though was neat here was that the heavier snow stripped the most unprotected leaves.

Again, you can see how the snow is stripping the unprotected foliage while the deeper leaves hold on. Check out the ground just under the trees, it's covered in leaves!

Continuing west the snow depth again dramatically increased.

I actually got stuck in a few places along this road. Photos don't do the snow depth justice, it was deep!

This area between Rob Roy and Little Germany on the southern edge of the Kolapore Uplands had some 15+ centimeters of snow.

Another very unusual photo with very strange lighting.

Another mixed season postcard?

Here's another shot to try and give some perspective of the snow depth. My BMW's skirt bottoms out in the snow at around 15cm and I'll get an additional 2-3 cm in front. So in places I was pushing 16 to 17cm of snow out of the way!

At least the roads were not closed right?

Heading back home this was what it look like a few kilometers south of Honeywood. Substantially less snow but the it looked cool pointing towards the trees.

Just a light bit of accumulation on this farm property.
